Who can submit?

Anyone with a passion for a subject related to our Content Tracks and are itching to share it with others. Speaker newbies are welcome. We will be selecting proposals based on a variety of criteria, not only experience.

What types of sessions are we looking for?

We are looking for session proposals ranging from beginner, such as “Build a webpage with HTML & CSS!” to advanced such as “API Writing and Testing”, two of the sessions from last yearprevious years. Topic areas may include: a focus on a specific language (PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.), project, business or career management, server technology, mobile app technology, makerspace projects, education, etc.

Beginner track covers topics cover fundamental skills, concepts, and other foundational knowledge that is useful in making the jump from non-techie to tech savvy. Whatever you propose, be ready for questions: people attending Beginner beginner sessions are hungry for more knowledge and excited to try new things!

Advanced track topic sessions aim to expand on an existing foundational body of knowledge to help attendees further build their skills. The wider an audience we can reach- intermediate, advanced, expert- the more people can advance!

Example session Session topic tags: Workshop, Advanced, Basics, Django, Python, Android, iOS, Mobile apps, Design, Project management, Agile, CSS, HTML, PHP, CMS, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, Javascript

How long is a session?

Sessions are 45 minutes long. That length will be strictly enforced to allow adequate time for the next speaker to setup and for attendees to get to their next session.

We recommend 35 minutes of speaking, followed by a 10 minute Q&A period. Make sure to time your session! And leave some extra time (e.g. 5 minutes). An example of a well-planned session would be: 30 minutes of speaking + 5 minutes cushion + 10 minutes Q&A = 45 minutes.
